Softball Roundup — Lady Jackets fall against FW Boswell

FORT WORTH — Cassidy McDaris was 3-for-3, including two doubles, but Denison came up short in a non-district game against Boswell, 3-2, on Tuesday night.

Mariaha Scally had an RBI double during Denison’s two-run third inning but Boswell scored one in the fourth and then twice in the fifth to take the lead for good.

Denison (2-4) will compete in the Prosper Tournament, which starts on Thursday.

Gunter 17, Valley View 0 (3)

GUNTER — Katlyn Holmes drove in six runs, three on a homer, and didn’t allow a base runner while striking out six in Gunter’s run-rule victory against Valley View on Tuesday.

Morgan Harrison was 2-for-2 with three RBI, Brittnee Gillespie was 2-for-2 with a double and drove in two runs and Kelsey Cantrell had a two-run double for Gunter (2-0), which faces Holliday at 12:30 p.m. and City View at 4 p.m. on Thursday at the Windthorst Tournament.

Howe 13, Melissa 7

HOWE — Emily Morgan was 3-for-4 with three RBI as Howe outslugged Melissa in non-district action on Tuesday.

Makenzie Duffee had three hits, including a triple, while Meg Thurston homered and Jaida Upchurch added an RBI double for Howe, which hosts a tournament starting on Thursday. The Lady Bulldogs are schedule to face Ector at 12:30 p.m.

Natalie Valderama doubled for Melissa.

Whitewright 12, Van Alstyne 7

VAN ALSTYNE — Keely Selman was a home run shy of the cycle and drove in three runs as Whitewright defeated Van Alstyne in non-district action on Tuesday night.

Tori Perkins added two hits and two RBI while Shelby Poe chipped in an RBI double for Whitewright (5-0), which plays at Howe in a District 11-2A game on Tuesday.

Bonham 3, Whitesboro 2

WHITESBORO — Monica Reed went 3-for-4 in Whitesboro’s non-district loss to Bonham on Tuesday night.

Linzy Bond added a double and Katie Dean struck out eight for Whitesboro, which opens the Burkburnett Tournament on Thursday against Petrolia.
