Sara Sandercock homered, doubled, and finished with three RBI as Grayson County College’s softball team took a 9-5 win over Texarkana College to salvage a home doubleheader split on Wednesday.
The Lady Vikings (3-4) scored three in the second inning, sparked by Sandercock’s two-run double, and never trailed.
Tabitha Pavelock added two RBI for the Lady Vikings. Tawny Hank had two hits and got the win in the circle, striking out six, walking two and scattering 10 hits.
In the opener, Nicole Belcher and Kristina Medina both doubled for the Lady Vikings, who had nine hits but stranded eight base runners in an 11-2 loss.
The Lady Vikings will travel to Temple for a tournament Friday and Saturday.
