Fannin County law enforcement is searching for an escaped inmate, Jimmy Lee Brock, who drove off Tuesday morning from a work detail in a stolen vehicle.

Brock had been on a trusty work detail at the Fannin County Precinct 3 barn. At 9:13 a.m., the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office received a call stating that an employee’s vehicle had been stolen from the barn. The caller told dispatch that an inmate worker, Brock had taken it and driven away.

Brock was incarcerated in the Fannin County Jail, operated by Community Education Centers through a contract with Fannin County, on cruelty to animals and evading detention charges, reported Fannin County Chief Deputy James Woods. He had been a part of the inmate worker program for about two months without any previous problems. Woods added that Brock will face an escape charge now, and possibly others following the end of the investigation.

Brock is believed to have left in a gold 2008 Chevrolet Impala, 4-door passenger car with Texas handicap license plate 9DPKZ.

Brock is a white male, 45, about 5-feet 7-inches tall, and weighs between 160-170 pounds. His hair is a mixture of brown and gray and he has green eyes, plus multiple tattoos. He was last seen wearing an orange jumpsuit and brown jacket. He possibly wore a tan shirt under the jumpsuit.

Anyone having information regarding the whereabouts of Jimmy Lee Brock should contact local law enforcement or Fannin County Sheriff’s Office at 903-583-2143.
