Law enforcement continues its search for escaped Fannin County Jail inmate Jimmy Lee Brock, who reportedly drove off Tuesday morning from a work detail in a stolen Chevrolet Impala.

Brock was in the Fannin County Jail on a parole violation warrant, confirmed Fannin County Sheriff Donnie Foster, and was awaiting trial on charges of evading detention and cruelty to animals. He was working on a trusty work detail Tuesday morning, something officials said he had been doing for about two months without having previously given any problems.

But early Tuesday morning, while working at the Fannin County Precinct 3 barn, he drove off in the precinct’s secretary’s car, a gold 2008 4-door Chevrolet Impala with Texas handicap license plate 9DPKZ. All indications are that he could still be driving that vehicle.

Brock is a white male, 45, about 5-feet 7-inches tall, and weighs between 160-170 pounds. His hair is a mixture of brown and gray and he has green eyes and many tattoos, including one on his neck. He has an extensive criminal history that includes 1st-degree aggravated robbery and burglaries.

Foster said that anyone seeing Brock or the car is cautioned against approaching him, but is urged to call either the nearest law enforcement office or Fannin County Sheriff’s Office at 903-583-2143.

Brock had been on a trusty work detail at the Fannin County Precinct 3 barn. At 9:13 a.m., the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office received a call stating that an employee’s vehicle had been stolen from the barn. The caller told dispatch that an inmate worker, Brock, had taken it and driven away.
